Living in a fairytale

After a long flight, boring layovers, and lost baggage; I have finallly made it! The drive from the airport to Tórshvan was breathtaking; I was in awe. Everywhere I would look, I would see green. There were sheep just wondering the country side and waterfalls were flowing down the mountains. Driving to Tórshavn, the town I am staying in, we had to go through a sub-sea tunnel.

My host family is extreamly nice! My mom, Sunneva, is kindhearted, and my two sisters are fun and sweet! They have taken me into town and showed me around. The town is really cute! Teenages here stay up really late and then sleep in. There are no curfews here.

Yesterday I went and watched grindadráp. Grindadráp is a big deal in the Faroe Islands. It is basically a whale hunt. It is like hunting deer in Minnesota. This tradition dates back forever. After that my host sister Maria let me tag along with her friends on a road trip to another island. That was fun, and I got to know more people.

So far I have had an amazing time! I can't wait to experence more!
