A New Island

Last week I got the opportunity to go to another island with my family. It took a half hour boat ride to get to the island. We stayed in a small house from the 1700’s. I was cute and had a bunch of old decorations in it. I stayed in the loft with my sister Maria. The village we stayed in only has a grocery store, bakery, and a small shopping store, so we had to make our own fun. I read the book Jaelyn gave me before I left for a lot of the time. Maria and I also went on walks and drives together. It was fun to drive around and see more of the island that we were staying on. We also got the opportunity to see the sheep being killed. I was hesitant at first but I felt like this would be my only opportunity to see it. It was a lot less brutal then I imagined. The men would take the sheep and cut its blood vessels i its neck killing it instantly. Then, they would drain the blood and cut off the legs and head. After that they took the fur and skin off the body and took the insides out of the body. The wife of one of the men that was doing the killing invited us to have fresh blood pancakes after. I was not to keen on trying them but they were surprisingly good. Tasted like cake. We also got to hot tubbing in the rain. That was fun and very relaxing. There is a rock covered in knitting just outside of the village we were staying in that we got to see too. The trip was one of my best memories here so far and allowed me to bond with my family a lot more. I am grateful I got this opportunity!
